The annual student performance of Sharmila Rao’s dance school has now become an institution. Sharmila Rao always manages to bring the traditional dance art of Bharata Natyam to the stage in a creative and unconventional way. This year too, the students of the Indian dance school will show their learnings from dance class in an entertaining form that will fascinate both connoisseurs and non-connoisseurs of this dance.
The dance evening revolves around the main character Anjali, a girl who – like so many girls – has the dream of becoming a great dancer one day. However, after the initial enthusiasm, she is discouraged by the effort involved in this endeavor. She has many questions, but no one can answer them or help her. With the certainty that she wasn’t cut out to be a dancer after all, she falls asleep. That night, Anjali dreams a dream that will change her life. She dreams of a fairytale land filled with dancing gods and heavenly fairies who want to help her in the search for her dream to come true.
Will Anjali find the answers to her questions in her dream? Or will she give up on her dream of becoming a dancer?
60 students from Sharmila Rao’s Bharata Natyam dance school are dancing.
The dance evening is accompanied by Indian catering. Indian snacks and drinks will be served before the event. An Indian dinner can be booked after the event. Payment on site.
The performance is free, but a voluntary donation is requested to cover expenses.
